Do children in our country have a right to choose a career for themselves?

India is diverse country with culture as its basis. From a very young age we are taught, by our parents the difference between right and wrong, what should be done and what can't be done. we as kids are taught by our parents, don't talk to strangers, don't let anyone touch you in the wrong way, if lost find your way home by remembering the address and the phone number, and many more such dont's surround our lives, at all times. As we grow older into our teenage or adolescent years, we are now taught what career we need to choose, which is the most prospective , tina aunty ki ladki ne toh science liya hai, tu bhi le le, scope accha hai, is our parents favorite line of all times.
Our children are born with a do to list , and as they grow old, parents forget that their children can make decisions for themselves. The peer pressure to live with, ie. to constantly perform, does take a toll on the young minds. The underlining question lies, do Indian kids have the will or the right to choose a career for themselves? The answer mostly seems complicated. 20 year old Nikhila an arts student, always had a creative inclination in career, she wanted to become and artist, learn music, play instruments, and create a name for herself. The hobby that her parents made her join at a very young age, now interests her as her career choice. She goes online, create a contact list of all the people she wants to talk to and does a full round research on the course of her desired mind. Finally when she breaks this news to her parents, they are devastated and full of resentment towards their daughter's decision. She tries to convince her father that this is what interests me and science can never be my first love. But her father is adamant to see her daughter become a doctor based on her academia being very good throughout. After all the crying and the sorrow, and convincing her father, Nikhila gives in to her father's choice of career unwillingly willing to sacrifice her music career. She is today a doctor, yet she itches every time she regrets her decision to not  stand up against her dad's wishes. The question remains, what makes our parents so resentful towards everything we do on our own? Be its our career, our relationship , or marriage for that matter. Are we so biased towards our on interests that parents forget to accommodate their children's thoughts, in their instinct to protect and baby them. Point to be noted here is , parents are only their to protect their kids, and yet they sometimes unknowingly make decisions that children suffer the consequences for .
Let your children make their own mistakes and their own falling, and they will thank you latter for doing so.
